The Recombobulator

We’re not short on messages. We’re drowning in them — and most are the same take with a different byline.

More feeds didn’t make us better informed. They made us more confident about things we never actually checked.

  1. An idea restated is not a second idea.

Fifteen outlets restating one take is one data point, not fifteen. Count it once, and the pressure goes out of the echo chamber.

  2. Stating the status quo is not an idea.

Consensus repeated back to you feels like signal but it carries no information. A source earns nothing for agreeing with the room.

  3. When two credible truths contradict, they’re usually not both wrong — they’re answering different questions.

Find the missing independent variable and the argument evaporates: you’re left with two versions of the truth, each true under different conditions.

  4. A real contradiction is pointing at a change nobody has named yet. That’s the gold.

Most tools give you more. This one gives you less.
Recombobulator builds a cohesive picture and
identifies changes which show up as contradictions.

Held in confidence. Never shared.
